We will practice the Navajo inspired Southwest Spindle, the Tibetan Spindle, and the Compromise Russian Spindle. All the spindles have a non-traditional hook on the end, making them easy to learn and use. This class is perfect for beginners and experienced spinners who want to try different kinds of support spindles. |

Topics covered include but are never limited to: holding the yarn, stitch structure, gauge, hand, fiber/needle choices, reading patterns and charts, adjusting/changing patterns, substituting yarns, cast on/bind off edges, correcting mistakes, random historic and cultural facts... Learn how to knit forward and backward and with both hands at the same time. Create the best style for you to knit - quickly, comfortably and with confidence. Materials included are the handout and 50g of wool yarn. Bring US size 7 or 8 needles, a pencil and basic knitting notions. |

2 hrs 9 am - 11 am All Levels $35 In this class you will learn how to make broomstick lace. This is a vintage lace-making technique using a crochet hook and a large knitting needle. We will be making a bracelet in class, and samples of new and different uses will be shown. All yarns will be included in the class kit. Extra hooks and large size knitting needles will be available for use during class if you don't have any. Students should be able to chain, single and double stitch. You will need to bring a size G crochet hook and a size 15, 17, or 19 knitting needle, scissors, stitch markers, and tapestry needle to weave in ends. |
Felted Vessel in a VesselJoi Chupp
3 hrs 9 am - 12 pm Beginning $50 Using a unique, 2-part, flat resist, students will use vibrantly colored wool roving, as well as natural colored wool, to create an unusual double-walled vessel. Even beginners to wet felting will be able to create this fascinatingly constructed vessel! Please bring two bath towels (which will get wet and soapy), and some sharp scissors. All materials and use of tools will be provided. |
