Spin & Ply on Tibetan Spindle

Learn to make a finished 2-ply yarn using a couple of simple tools. We will spin a single ply yarn on the Tibetan spindle, wind the single into a center-pull ball using a nostepinne, then ply the yarn from the ball back on the spindle. We have found that the Tibetan is the easiest way to learn to spin.The student keeps both tools - spindle and nostepinne - as part of the class.

All equipment and materials are provided. This class is suitable for beginners or more experienced spinners who want to learn the Tibetan spindle

​Students should bring small scissors and a small hoop if desired. Pattern, Instructions, threads, and needle will be provided.

Oh Holey Knit! 
​Beginning Lace Knitting

Did you recently learn to knit and want to move beyond plain scarves and dishcloths? Don't feel you quite have the confidence to stitch beyond garter stitches? This class is for you! Learn to make simple but elegant lace for your special knitting projects. 
​
You will make a small swatch of 2 or 3 lace patterns. We will cover reading both written and charted lace patterns. Every participant will receive handouts with picture samples of several lace pattern, as well as ideas for easy projects to make with their new skill.


Students need to bring:
1 pair of needles appropriate for weight of yarn, size 8  
1 set of blocking pins or 1 box rust-proof t-pins
Small ruler or gauge tool
Yarn/Darning needle
Small pair of scissors
Chocolate or favorite candy

​This basket will be great to load up and carry anywhere. Take it the the store to bring home groceries, to the ballgame or park, or put all your retreat supplies to come to Fiber Daze 2020! It is a great size and easy to weave. Class for beginner to intermediate weavers.

Supplies to bring: old towel, tape measure, long slender flat head screwdriver (or Weave Rite tools), pencil, craft scissors, utility knife, 15 to 20 clothespins. If you don't have something please do not go and buy it. I have a few extras or we can share.

Wagon Wheel Weaving

Learn to mskr rugs and place mats using techniques developed by pioneer women, who were masters at
re-purposing everything. The process is simple and the result is fantastic! We will be working on a group project, and transition to a smaller, personal project.

​Please bring scissors to cut fabric. All other materials provided - no need to get your own wagon wheel!

This beautiful fall pumpkin (grapefruit sized) will be completed to adorn you home. Instructions and illustration of the use of core wool to form the base shape, how to shape a stem, and completed in wool to represent a fun pumpkin.

Materials included in class: wool and core wool to complete the project, fiber foam and needle will be provided and goes home with the student. I suggest the student should bring a few bandaids. Yes, the needles are sharp!
