Fun at the 2014 Fiber Folks Meetings
Coming up in September: Project Party & Fiber Daze Show and Tell
In August we learned "Getting Fiber Spin-Ready". Susan and Darlene brought hand cards, combs, and a drum carder and demonstrated several techniques. This was a very informative presentation for many of us who haven't yet dipped our "toe in the water" on carding/combing. Thanks a bunch, ladies. We also were part of a birthday surprise for June - her husband Mike gave her this beautiful Kromski spinning wheel. June was so elated as you can see!
There was a little bit of everything at the July Meeting. Nancy and Danelle gave a great tutorial on the use of Ravelry, with the help of Carolee (and husband) who facilitated the use of the computer and projector. Thank you Nancy, Danelle, Carolee and hubby! Meanwhile, in another corner of the room there was spinning and drum carding going on. And of course, the usual good food and conversation. Great meeting for the Fiber Folks!
In June we learned Basic Finishing Techniques with Colleen. Many folks were gathered around and learned some
helpful information and skills. Great job, Colleen. (So much was going on that photos were overlooked.)
Our May meeting was great - there was shopping (at our Silent Auction) and plenty of fellowship.
These ladies below are some of our new members in 2014 - so far. Welcome all!
At the April meeting we learned about prepping a fleece. Thanks, Judy, for sharing your knowledge.
Below, many folks brought items for "Show and Tell" in March. Several shared their Fiber Retreat projects.
Playing "footsie" at the March meeting? No, it's really the gals who made the socks they were wearing. You just never know what will happen at a Fiber Folks meeting! Nice socks, ladies.
The February program investigated Blocking Techniques, presented by Colleen. We really enjoyed the program, but unfortunately we didn't take photos. Just shows how good the program was - we didn't stop for pictures!
In January, we learned how to use a drop spindle. Thanks, Joi, for showing us how!
